Our Pastor and Organizer
Bishop General Haymon
Birth and Early Life (1951 — 1978)
In 1951, Deacon Raymond Lee Haymon, Sr. begat and Mother Brunette Haymon brought forth a son of man who was predestined by God to become the founder, president, and senior pastor of God’s Church in Christ Jesus.
In 1973, on Resurrection Day (Easter Sunday), Deacon Haymon passed away in Holy Temple Church of God in Christ (COGIC) while standing up and speaking before the congregation, with his last words being “Thank You, Jesus,” “Thank You, Jesus,” “Thank You, Jesus.” At the time, General was overseas during the Vietnam War, but as he listened to the tape of his father’s testimony, he was totally convinced that it is in fact possible for believers, despite our imperfections, to go directly into the presence of the Lord Jesus Christ when we pass away.
Ordained as a Prophet (1978 — 1979)
In 1978, General was unsure if the Lord Jesus was showing him that he was ordained a prophet, so he prayed, asking the Lord to confirm it by “letting a human being tell me.” Less than a month later, his prayer was answered when he went around to shake hands with each preacher after service. As one particular preacher clutched General’s hand, he cried out excitedly, “You’re a prophet! I can feel it! That’s the highest calling!” Soon after, General began an early morning radio broadcast called “Prophet Haymon” in which he preached and prayed for callers. However, the program only lasted for a few months, because General felt that the church would not accept him as a prophet.
From Homelessness to Restoration (1979 — 2008)
So, from 1979 until 2002, General turned his back on the Lord and did his own thing, focusing on raising his family and teaching. However, in 2003, he hit the bottom, including becoming homeless with his son and discovering what a shelter was.
In 2003, the Lord Jesus mercifully brought General back to Himself through these experiences. Starting that year, the Holy Spirit continuously trained and taught General through several Bible teachers and pastors over the radio. For over five years, General served under two local pastors, as a member, Sunday school teacher, assistant pastor, associate pastor, and interim pastor.
God's Church in Christ Jesus (2008 — Present)
In 2008, General began to recognize hints that the Lord Jesus wanted him to be a pastor. In 2009, he told the Lord that if He did not convince him 100%, he would not do it.
On Saturday, April 25, 2009, at approximately 1:30 p.m., the Lord Jesus, through the Holy Spirit, totally convinced General that he was made an overseer (bishop) based on the authority of First Peter 5:2. General immediately fell to his knees and said, “I will do it!” On Friday, May 1, 2009, Bishop Haymon convened the first service of God’s Church in Christ Jesus in his apartment with his mother and his brother Josef.
In 2011, the church began a radio broadcast to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ, teach the Word of God to the saints, and encourage believers to maintain the testimony of Jesus until He returns. Today, that ministry can be heard worldwide. Praise the Lord Jesus!

"shepherd the flock of God among you, exercising oversight not under compulsion, but voluntarily, according to the will of God; and not for sordid gain, but with eagerness;"
